“DevOps”, a term coined by IT expert Patrick Debois in 2009, describes a culture of collaboration between “Development” and “Operations”. With enhanced communication between these two teams, DevOps attempts to establish an environment where building, testing, and releasing software can happen as quickly, frequently and reliably as possible.
At Glilot, an early stage fund focused on enterprise software, we feel that DevOps innovation is one of the most interesting trends in the industry today. In recent years we’ve see a flow of top notch Israeli start-ups establishing themselves in this space, including two of our own portfolio companies, Blazemeter and MinuteLab.
Let’s talk numbers. In 2015 alone we saw numerous acquisitions and late stage funding rounds of Israeli DevOps companies: Zend was acquired by Rogue Wave, Ravello Systems raised a $28M C Round, RedisLabs raised a $15M B Round and CloudEndure raised a $7M B Round. These larger rounds and acquisitions were supplemented by earlier rounds from Rollout.io, Codersclan, Backand, SafeDK and more. These are just the early stages of DevOps revolution here in Israel and there will surely be more acquisitions and investments to come in the near future as this industry matures.
We have conducted extensive research to prepare an infographic mapping the Israeli DevOps landscape in Israel today. This infographic can serve as a resource for CIOs, investors, entrepreneurs, developers, and more.
