About James Faxon

James has a passion for the entrepreneurial drive and spirit and has focused his 23-year career aligning cybersecurity solutions with global business strategy to mitigate risk and drive bottom line growth. His expertise spans across multinational, complex, diversified enterprises including publicly traded (Fortune 30), startup, and privately held organizations. James’ expertise crosses multiple industry verticals including, oil and gas, metals and mining, aerospace and defense, distribution, travel and leisure, and manufacturing.

James is currently Deputy Chief Information Security Officer for the Marathon Petroleum Corporation. In this role, he oversees cybersecurity innovation, threat management, cloud security strategy, IT/OT convergence, next-generation event monitoring and response, incident management, vulnerability management, tooling and engineering, and penetration testing services.

Prior to Marathon, James was the Global CISO for Newmont Goldcorp Mining Corporation where he defined and led a global cybersecurity transformation strategy and spearheaded the convergence of Operation Technology and Information Technology.

Prior to Newmont Goldcorp, James was the Busines Unit CISO for United Technology Aerospace Systems. With global responsibility for cybersecurity across all subsidiary companies. James also held leadership positions at Boeing, Galileo International, and Cendant Corporation.

James is a Certified Chief Information Security Officer (C|CISO), Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), and Cybersecurity Oversight Certificate from National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD).
